A U class licence is a new class of licence that you will need from 1 December 2024 to drive an Ultra High Powered Vehicle (UHPV). An UHPV is a vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Mass not greater than 4.5 tonnes (not including a bus, motor bike or motor trike) with a power to weight ratio equal to or greater than 276 kilowatts per tonne.

Tips for being safe on the road at Schoolies
If you're heading to Schoolies, it's a good idea to leave the car at home.
Remember the p-plate laws restrict P1 drivers under the age of 25 from carrying any more than one passenger between the ages of 16-20 in their car and from driving between midnight and 5 am unless accompanied by a Qualified Supervising Driver.
Provisional drivers must also not drive with any alcohol or drugs in their body.
Take care when walking around, particularly at night, as combined with the consumption of alcohol this greatly increases your risk being involved in a fatal crash.
Have fun, but please be safe at Schoolies – keep your mates safe, remember the road laws and be aware of your surroundings when walking near busy roads.
