Parents and supervisors

Sharing the household vehicle

As the number of car users in a household increases there will be a growing pressure to use the available vehicles.

This often leads to arguments about whose turn it is to drive and whether one person’s trip is more important that another’s.

  • Planning ahead and taking a trip together could mean that you get lots of things done on one journey – also saving on household fuel costs.
  • Parents and supervisors can support their young people by setting an example and also walking or cycling for short trips or taking the public transport where it is easy to do so.
  • Remember, active and public transport help us get to know our local area, become more familiar with our surroundings and improve our independence.
