Unit 3: Task 18 - Turning onto and from laned roads

Learning Outcome

The learner will be able to demonstrate turning left and right safely on to and from laned roads using the 'System of Car Control' while complying with the 'Give Way' rules and the laws relating to turning.

Assessment Standard

The learner will demonstrate compliance with road craft concepts at least 80% of the time (see pages 14-21) and compliance with the law during the assessment without assistance

Requirements

Turning left onto and from laned roads
  1. Comply with all laws relating to signalling, turning and 'Giving Way';
  2. Approach every turn at a safe speed under full control;
  3. Correct and timely observation of any conflicting traffic when turning left;
  4. Apply appropriate acceleration during and after turning when entering the traffic flow of the other road; and
  5. Comply with the 'System of Car Control'
Turning right onto and from laned roads
  1. Comply with all laws relating to signalling, turning and 'Giving Way';
  2. Approach every turn at a safe speed under full control;
  3. Correct and timely observation of any conflicting traffic when turning right;
  4. Apply appropriate acceleration during and after turning when entering the traffic flow of the other road; and
  5. Comply with the 'System of Car Control'.
